Land Acknowledgment

Connect Wetaskiwin operates on Treaty 6 territory – the traditional land belonging to the Cree, Blackfoot, Metis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquoi, Dene, Ojibway, Saulteaux, Inuit, and many other Indigenous Nations.

Connect Wetaskiwin recognizes that our work in asset-based community-led development is deeply rooted in traditional Indigenous teachings that honor the interconnectedness of all living beings and the importance of stewardship for future generations.

We are committed to upholding these teachings and to actively supporting Indigenous communities in their ongoing efforts to reclaim and protect their ancestral cultures, languages, and land. We recognize the historical injustices and ongoing impacts of colonization and stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples in their pursuit of justice, sovereignty, and self-determination.

As we move forward, we pledge to listen, learn, and collaborate with Indigenous Peoples, honoring their knowledge, wisdom, and rights. Together, we strive to create a more just and equitable future where Indigenous Peoples can thrive in harmony with the land and all its inhabitants.
